Andre Dickens hosted 25 fellows for a special leadership luncheon for Mandela Day

ATLANTA – Atlanta City Councilmember Andre Dickens hosted 25 fellows for a special leadership luncheon for Mandela Day on Tuesday, July 18 at Atlanta City Hall.

The fellows are visiting Atlanta as part of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders Initiative, an international program that provides outstanding youth from Sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to hone their leadership skills at a U.S. college or university with support for professional development after they return home.

Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders Initiative is a partnership between Clark Atlanta University and the U.S. Department of State.

The fellows represent several African countries including: Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

Tuesday’s guest speakers were Atlanta Public Schools Chairman Courtney English and Business Leader & Army Veteran, Quincy Springs.
