ATLANTA MAYOR ANDRE DICKENS

Revived Youth Commission Receives $52,000 in Funding

(Atlanta) Since joining Atlanta City Council in 2014, Councilmember Andre Dickens has worked diligently to revive the Atlanta Youth Commission. The Youth Commission addresses issues relevant to Atlanta’s youth regarding policy and legislation that impacts young people. After working to get a functioning Board that meets regularly, the Youth Commission is again meeting to serve the future of the city.

On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, the Atlanta City Council unanimously passed an Ordinance (Legislative Reference No. 16-0-1403) co-sponsored by Councilmembers Natalyn Archibong, Andre Dickens and CT Martin approving $52,000 in funding to support initiatives and activities of the Atlanta Youth Commission.

“The Atlanta Youth Commission provides our youth with a forum to advance their ideas as to how they can shape our city,” said Dickens. “Providing them with the needed funding will help advance their ability to engage more young leaders to make our city even greater.”
